Rick Shaurette

Starting with childhood activities at Jones Beach on Long Island , NY , Rick has been involved with water, boating and fishing for most of his life. After moving to Bradenton in 1963, he spent his summers water skiing on Palma Sola Bay and other free time fishing from the variety of local bridges and piers. In 1970, he purchased his first boat, a 14 foot sailboat that had been converted to an outboard powered skiff. Boat ownership has continued over time with the purchase of larger boats and current ownership of a 46 foot Ocean Sportfish.

Rick and his wife, Sydney, were married at the Bradenton Yacht Club in 1995 and became members the following year. Together they have four children (Monica, Laura, Jennifer and Justin) and seven grandchildren. Since Rick retired from Tropicana/PepsiCo after 31 years of service, they spend their time remodeling their Sportfish named Optimystique and enjoy both cruising and fishing. Sydney is a past Great Mates President and Rick has been active on both the Finance and Basin Committees.
