Return to BYC Officers
William (Bill) Baker Past Commodore
I
was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1947 and my family moved to Bradenton in 1954.
I attended Ballard and Manatee Elementary and was in the first class to go
from 7th
to 12th
grade at Southeast High School. I have been doing auto body repairs
since 1968 and started Baker’s Paint and Body in 1976.
I have two wonderful children. Lisa Sokos and her husband, Gus, are the parents of our grandchildren, Eleni and Jamie. Tracy Glasgow's family consists of her husband, Shannon, and our grandchildren, Savannah, Zackary and Marina. I also have a nephew, Tom McGill, who with his wife Vera have children, Lauren and Tommy. All three families are also members of the BYC. Obviously boating runs in the family!
I
have been a member of the Club since 1977 and have owned a boat since the age
of 12. My wife, Ruth, also very active in the BYC, is the current Great
Mates President. We enjoy spending time on our boat “Bandit”, a
46’ Sea Ray, and our two 1970 vintage, restored jet boats, “454” type
and various other water toys. I also enjoy water skiing and snow skiing.
I have supported all types of boating events at the BYC, including fishing and
sailing.
I have been accused of having salt water in my veins because I enjoy boating so much. I am very passionate about the BYC and proud to be Past Commodore.
